- Early Career & Advocacy in Mexico:
- Regional representative for the Mexican Front for Human Rights in the late 1980s
- University professor at private universities in Tijuana during the 1990s, teaching Customs Law, International Law, and International Affairs
- Federal Congressional candidate for the Partido de Baja California (PBC) in the early 2000s
- Contributed articles on Human Rights to radio and the Sol de Tijuana newspaper
- Work in the United States:
- Began supporting Mexican migrants in the U.S. in 2002
- Participated in binational health projects between San Diego, CA, and Tijuana BC
- Collaborated with non-profit organizations, including Pacto Latino, assisting Mexican families with health and housing service needs
- Served as a translator for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in Las Vegas, Nevada (2008)
- Joined the California Employment Development Department (EDD) in 2009
- Two years later, joined as a civil servant in the Federal Goverment in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the investigations division and held a security clearance
